Clark feels justified now in having to stop Batman because he’s been told firsthand how scared the citizens of Gotham are of him. Through Clark’s investigations, he learns that Batman sees himself as a fearmonger and above the law. Likewise, we learn just how much of a death sentence the bat-brand can be from the point of view of the branded’s wife. The Man of Steel took a backseat in the theatrical cut, but this version shows him investigating Batman much more thoroughly in Gotham, interviewing citizens who fear the Bat. One of the main reasons for this is by giving Henry Cavill’s Clark Kent/Superman a lot more things to do. It adds quite a bit of content and thankfully, everything that was added feels essential to making this movie make more sense. His future projects include producing a series of short-form films for HBO, which may debut before the end of the year.The Ultimate Edition of Batman V Superman is thankfully a much better version than what we got in cinemas. Stewart has kept a relatively low-profile since his high-profile exit from The Daily Show, with the exception of an appearance at a USO event alongside fellow retired host, David Letterman. He’s previously appeared as himself in Evan Almighty and The Adjustment Bureau, in addition to roles in such films as The Faculty, Big Daddy and Death to Smoochy. He was likely cut because his inclusion would have dated the movie, after shooting the cameo in 2014. Stewart stepped down as host of The Daily Show in August of last year, while Batman v Superman was released in March of this year after a ten-month delay. His rant, which lasts about 20 seconds, includes a reference to the superhero no longer wanting to be seen as American. According to Cinema Blend, Stewart appears as one of the many TV pundits who are commenting on Superman’s impact on the world, along with Anderson Cooper, Soledad O’Brien, Charlie Rose, Nancy Grace and Neil deGrasse Tyson. However, Stewart’s scene is included in the Ultimate Edition of the film, which contains an extra 30 minutes of footage. The comedian filmed a cameo for the movie while he was still hosting The Daily Show, but its release date was pushed back nearly a year, meaning Stewart had already departed the Comedy Central late-night talk show once it hit theaters.
